Described by Limelight Magazine as a 'national treasure', Ensemble Liaison is one of Australia's leading internationally-acclaimed ensembles. Renowned for their engaging performances and innovative programming, they have collaborated with many wonderful guests including Ray Chen, Henning Kraggerud, Nemanja Radulovic, puppeteer Peter Wilson and principal dancers of the Australian Ballet. For this concert, Ensemble Liaison is joined by triple-Grammy-award winning artist Tim Munro, flautist with the internationally acclaimed Eighth Blackbird for ten years and Sulki Yu, Concertmaster of Orchestra Victoria.
Thiis program brings emotional immediacy in Christopher Cerrone’s mesmerizing, New Addresses, inspired by the poetry of Kenneth Koch. Martin Wesley-Smith's hyperactive virtuosity comes alive with relentless rhythmic energy in a fantastical Waltz and Pat-a-cake in a tribute to Don Banks (DB). And if that isn’t enough, the complicated love story of Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms is written all over the concluding works on the program. An outpouring of Romantic spirit of the highest order in her Three Romances and his first Piano Trio, both compositions penned around the time of their first encounter in 1853-54.
