THE JOHN TALLIS 'Beleura' Schimmel Concert Grand Piano

In August 2006, the Peninsula Music Society became the grateful custodians of the Tallis Foundation’s newly imported 8’4” polished ebony, Schimmel Concert Grand piano. This most generous support from the Tallis Foundation ensures that for many years to come, our pianists will enjoy performing on a first class concert grand piano, instead of the best piano available for hire on the date of each concert.

This instrument will be used by leading Australian and international musicians at our regular Subscription Concerts in the Peninsula Community Theatre. For one of these concerts, a pianist will be chosen by the Peninsula Music Society and the Tallis Foundation to perform the annual “Peppercorn” Recital. Bursary recipients will also perform on the Schimmel at our annual Bursary Winners' Concert.

Under terms of the our agreement with the Trustees of the Tallis Foundation, the instrument is available to select musicians from the wider community. Maintenance, tuning, approval and arrangements for hire will be overseen by six committee members from the Society. Hire fees will be allocated to the Bursary Fund. The piano will be used exclusively at this venue and no movement off stage will be allowed.
